Happy 2008! I am so excited about my new digital camera that I received for Christmas. Welcome to the 21st century! I am such a visual person, and my blog was driving me crazy because I didn't have any pictures. Well, my mom fixed that problem. Thanks Momma K!
I was watching Dr.Phil yesterday while I attempted my huge pile of ironing, and I found it to be pretty interesting. It was all about KEEPING our new year's resolutions. I found it very inspiring. I even ran all over the house looking for a pen and paper so that I can take notes. You see, I need all the help I can get. I love this time of year. I love fresh starts, and 2nd chances. I love making goals but I am not so great about following through with them.
This year I have also set some goals, or resolutions for myself and by posting them, I feel a sense that I must follow through.
- First I plan on getting financially healthy. Now that Schuy is out of school, we have a ton of School loan debt and big dreams. I want the dreams to come true, so that means we need to tighten our belts and become financially fit.
- Second is the weight thing. I WILL HIT MY GOAL WEIGHT BY THE END OF THE YEAR! My goal is to write everything down that I put into my mouth. I am really going to focus on the food side of the goal.
- Third, I want to complete a marathon by the end of the year. I know I can do this! My sister and I have been training already and we completed a 8 mile run on Christmas eve.
So, there they are. I will do it this year and I will continue to post my progress. Wish me luck!

Wow- those are some very impressive goals!! Way to go on the 8 mile run!! If you can do that already, a marathon is definitely within reach!! Good luck with all your goals!
Yay for the camera! They are so much fun (if you can't tell, we take lots of pictures.) And kudos for sharing all of your goals. I'm afraid of doing that because I know I'll slip up. You are very brave and committed!
A marathon? Holy cow! Can I come too? I would love to have that goal, but I have no idea how to train for something like that. I'm very impressed Abbey!
Way to go Abbey!!! Please continue to post your progress, particularly after June -- I want to hear all about that marathon, even when I am across the country!
I am very proud of you!
Hooray for goals. I am glad you were inspired. It is great that you are working with Cassie to get in shape for the marathon. I am working on walking, I may be able to graduate to running next year. By the way, I put together a 3 ring binder with my goals written in the front and calendars for the year. I have been tracking my progress since I started the beginning of December. I look at my binder every day and record my progress. It really helps keep me going. WE can reach our goals! Keep up the good work.
I admire you, but I'm not enough of a masochist to train to run a marathon.
Haha I finally broke you down, and I have witnesses, 26.2 here we come.
Go Abbey Go!!!!! I am so excited about your marathon. We'll have to go running together sometime. I'm not up for an 8 miler yet, but I could probably do a 3. (okay, maybe only a 2. But, I could stash my car at the 2 mile mark!) Keep up the awesome work!!!!
Hey! I didn't know you guys had a blog, was it mentioned in the newsletter? Probably...and I forgot. Lame of me. I am so excited to "see" you here and so glad that we can keep in touch via blog. Good luck with the resolutions this year!
you're great, what an inspiration! I think I'm almost ready to make my resolutions :)
you are a brave woman! i have kept my same running routine for the last five years with little effort to push myself more. and the only goal that i have set is to run a half marathon sometime while i'm alive. i'm cheering you on!
